Correct Care Solutions Unit Secretary with Phlebotomy Experience in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania

Overview

Our Unit Secretary assists with administrative/medical duties as assigned in the health care unit.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.

Experience:

  • One (1) or more years in a health care setting

  • Medical terminology training

  • Computer skills with emphasis on Excel and Word

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Licenses/Certifications:

  • None required

Responsibilities

  1. Maintain accurate clinical logs, attendance logs, shift reports and other as assigned.

  2. Assist in development of new forms and revisions of existing forms.

  3. Inventory equipment, supplies, and medications as assigned.

  4. Answer telephone inquiries from family members and others without jeopardizing patient confidentially.

  5. Arrange for supplies/equipment to be refurnished/repaired as needed in an immediate manner.

  6. Enter pertinent medical alerts and data in Jail Management System.

  7. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.

  8. Inventory supplies and make list of needed items.

  9. Stock and maintain readiness of clinic exam and dental rooms, intake tackle box, and code bag.

  10. Maintain adequate supply of forms for clinician use.

  11. Answer the phones in a professional manner and refers messages appropriately.

  12. Assist with filing of medical records and loose sheets.

  13. Assist with obtaining and tracking the Releases of Information.

  14. Perform other duties as required.

  15. Make appointments for off-site inmate appointments, enter data into tracking system, and follow-up on completion.

  16. Duplicates, collates, and faxes materials, as requested.

  17. Take off orders, under direction of nursing staff.

  18. Distribute and pick up mail and packages from mail room.

  19. Arrange for inmates to be brought back from farm-out facilities for clinic appointments.

  20. Monitor, print, and distribute general e-mail correspondence for clinical staff.

  21. Submit charges for clinic visits to commissary.

  22. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.

  23. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.

  24. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.

  25. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.

  26. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.

  27. Post orders, if applicable, per site contract.

  28. Perform other duties as assigned.
