Our Chaplain and Rehabilitation Specialist II is responsible for developing, organizing and facilitating Role Recovery Psychiatric Rehabilitation groups and activities that address the needs of Persons with emotional and mental illnesses and documents monthly PRE IRP Notes, provides monthly assessments of Persons Served and participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. Additionally, as Chaplain, the Rehabilitation Specialist II will provide the ministry of Pastoral Care as an integral part of treatment, care and recovery for all Persons Served and Staff (or family member) through the means of education, visitation, spiritual, and emotional support: counseling; worship and sacraments; advocacy and mediation.
- Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college or university in a human services field required.
One-year experience in a mental health setting.
Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
- None required.
Provides coordination and oversight for all Chaplaincy Services, including Protestant, Catholic and Jewish. Arranges for contact from clergy of any other religious sect as necessary for individuals outside these primary groups.
Conducts and coordinates worship services to include Persons Served on the Geriatric and Medical Units who are physically unable to attend service.
Documentation/Assessments: Performs timely, complete, accurate and legible documentation of worship and enrichment services and attendance outside of the unit.
Unit Program: Plans for and assists with implementation of Engagement Groups and Activities on the Everglades Unit; processes and manages group process/dynamics to maximize Person Served participation, maintains creative, stimulating groups and room environment.
Teamwork: Works well with all departments and programs to meet the needs of Persons Served.
Serves as hospital representative at any other requested function, including visitation or other contact to Persons Served or staff who become hospitalized (as practical or requested).
Serves as hospital representative to the local religious community through involvement with local ministerial associations.
Provides personal counseling upon request or at the request of the Recovery Team members.
Social Skills Activities: Participates in the planning of special events by choosing activities appropriately for the occasion and the population.
Age Specific Competency: Is knowledgeable about care and treatment issues of Persons Served of different ages.
Individualized Cultural Competency: Is sensitive to cultural diversity issues; treats Person Served as an individual and considers the culture of the Person Served when providing care and treatment care and treatment consistent with and sensitive to the age and life span development needs of each Person Served.
Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
