Correct Care Solutions Key Control Officer in Columbia, South Carolina
Our Key Control Officer is responsible for the security, inventory, and maintenance of the facility armory/lock shop, including all firearms, other security equipment, chemical agents and key control
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- One (1) year of experience in a correctional and/or treatment/secure facility with responsibility for direct supervision over inmates/detainees or an equivalent combination of work experience and education
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
Any violations or status change (vehicular accident, moving traffic ticket/ citation, change in license status [point reduction, restricted, suspended, revoked, etc.]) must be reported immediately to human resources and supervisor
Must maintain a valid Law Enforcement card and comply with requirements for a Security Officer Employees must immediately report any violations (arrests, etc.) that would prevent obtaining or renewal to human resources and supervisor
Ensures compliance with all rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to key control. May assist in the development and implementation of updated policies, procedures and regulations for the custody and security of the facility, especially as they relate to armory and key control. Reviews staff effectiveness and conducts frequent physical and security inspections of the facility to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Responsible for maintaining records and preparing reports related to the armory/lock shop as assigned by management. Maintains daily logs as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Responsible for one hour presentation to new hires on a bi-weekly basis to include tour of facility and key watcher presentation.
Monthly inventory of tools for maintenance, dialysis, IT (MIS), horticulture, cafeteria utensils and key shop tools.
Monthly cleaning maintenance of key watcher boxes: Box 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 weekly.
Quarterly testing of emergency keys, inspection of emergency exits, pool locks and fire extinguishers.
Respond to Code Red as needed.
Daily Inconsistent Report to Chief of Security.
Complete daily work orders.
Enter staff into key watcher system.
Additional duties include transporting, relieving for lunch breaks and front lobby coverage.
Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
