Correct Care Solutions Pharmacy Technician in Florida City, Florida
Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacists our Pharmacy Technician performs moderately complex pharmaceutical assistance and other clerical support work. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Minimum one (1) year of experience as a pharmacy technician
Knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terms and of the laws and regulations related to pharmaceutical operations
Skill in the operation of pharmaceutical equipment
Ability to prepare prescriptions, inventory supplies and communicate effectively
Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department
Must hold and maintain a current license as a Registered Pharmacy Technician) in the state of practice and must be registered with the board of pharmacy
Certification with Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or similar program required
Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist:
Answers telephone inquiries in a professional manner, stating who is speaking, and respond to problems within the scope of the position.
Enters patient orders into the pharmacy computer system.
Prepares medication orders and delivers replacement medications to each unit after the work is verified as correct by the Pharmacist.
Fills medication orders and prepares medication carts for delivery to the units.
Must have a thorough working knowledge of the automated medication dispensing system.
Orders medications from the wholesaler; checks in the order and stickers the products, and submits billing sheets to Accounting.
Pre-packs medications that are received from the wholesaler including liquids.
Prepares discharge medications which are verified by the Pharmacist prior to dispensing.
Maintains adequate stock levels in the units and rotates inventory as necessary.
Prints Medication Administration Records (MAR’s) for each unit.
Prepares, receives, and reconciles drug shipment; stocks drugs and reports drug shortages. Prints override transactions and discrepancies on a daily basis.
Makes sure that monthly IM injections and vaccines are given on the due date and sends medication to the unit.
Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
