Overview

Our Health Information Systems (HIS) Manager has the responsibility to support and maintain in-house networked computer systems including servers, desktops, and peripherals. Proficient with Windows Server and Desktop operating systems. Responsibilities include installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and software including facility servers, and network equipment. Must be familiar with and maintain current network data backup strategies. This position will also troubleshoot problem areas to include diagnosing and resolving general network problems in a timely and accurate manner, and provide end user training and assistance where required.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of five (5) years of work experience in a related role with experience in hardware and software operations

  • Education and progressive work experience may be substituted for a bachelor degree at management's discretion

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in a related role with experience in hardware and software operations

  • Excellent technical and practical knowledge of desktop and server operating systems and hardware

  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, configuration and troubleshooting techniques

  • Must have excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to understand and resolve technical problems independently

  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language

  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks that are routine in nature, while keeping work flowing in an orderly manner

  • Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screen

  • Ability to express thoughts logically, in English, in both written and verbal form

Responsibilities

  1. Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, software, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products.

  2. Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex personal computer (PC) and server problems and recommend and implement corrective hardware and or software solutions.

  3. Maintain an efficient Help Desk solution to respond to and monitor end user issues.

  4. Maintain an existing inventory of all computer assets including monitors, computers, printers, scanners, and other peripheral equipment.

  5. Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring PC performance.

  6. Construct, install, and test customized configurations based on various platforms and operating systems.

  7. Conduct research on computer products in support of PC procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend hardware products for purchase.

  8. Must be available for rotating after hours, including weekends and holidays, on-call schedule.

  9. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.

  10. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.

  11. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.

  12. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.

  13. Perform other duties as assigned
