Overview

Our Chief Nursing Officer will manage nursing services within the necessary scope of practice and according to nursing standards of care and ensure adequate nursing coverage across all shifts.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Must possess no less than BSN with MSN or other master’s degree in a comparable health care field preferred.

Experience:

  • Must have at least 5 years of progressively responsible nursing management experience with at least 5 years as a practicing Registered Nurse.

  • Corrections experience is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage nursing services within the necessary scope of practice and according to nursing standards of care and ensure adequate nursing coverage across all shifts;

  2. Recruit, select, train and supervise nurses at all levels;

  3. Supervise Directors of Nursing;

  4. Ensure documentation guidelines and practices consistent with Contract and audit requirements and good nursing practice;

  5. Direct policy and procedure development and implementation, including review, assessment, issuance and distribution;

  6. As required, serve as a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee;

  7. Coordinate monthly medical education series for Inmates;

  8. Provide oversight to the Site Directors of Nursing regarding ACA accreditation and NCCHC standards and their application;

  9. Manage nursing Services within the necessary scope of practice and in accordance with nursing standards of care;

  10. Design, manage and coordinate a Clinical Performance Enhancement Program (peer review) for all RNs and LPNs; and

  11. Develop and manage Program clinical operations and guidelines.

  12. Post Orders, if applicable, per site contract

  13. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.

  14. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.

  15. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.

  16. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.

  17. Perform other duties as assigned.
